Student Assessment Program

“For years we have been struggling to understand how to work with our son.  While he is academically strong with an analytical and logical mind, he struggles with other seemingly simple things.  We couldn’t understand how a boy with such an amazing memory for complex details could not remember other mundane things even after numerous repetitions.

The only thing we could figure out was that he just wasn’t trying hard enough, but that never really made sense to us. Reward systems failed, discipline systems failed, all because we weren’t able to piece together the commonalities among the situations, and not for lack of effort.  For years his struggles have literally wreaked havoc with our family and we have sought all manner of professional assistance.  Everyone has agreed that there are problems, but nobody has been able to sufficiently tease it apart and give us tangible, practical, detailed information or tools…until now.

After his assessment, we now see common threads that run through his problem areas.  We also now have tools to use to help strengthen his areas of challenge as well as ideas on how to encourage him to use his strengths to support those weaker areas.  The demystification process was a true gift to our son and Judy’s meeting with us following that was brilliant.  It was abundantly evident from the detailed report we received and the compassionate explanations that were offered, that there was deep concern for all of us.  We are so grateful to be able to distinguish his choices from his “wiring” now.  This process has allowed our family to move from frustration back to compassion with him which is where we so desperately wanted to be.
