Hawaii Learning Resource is pleased to provide Summer Academic Enrichment Camps developed in partnership with Assets School for students entering grades 2 to 8. The camps provide students with a fun, hands-on learning experience designed to inspire joy in learning and an opportunity to significantly improve their learning and social skills, as well as to better understand their own strengths and interests.
The primary goal of the camps is to help diverse learners who are struggling in school develop a stronger motivation to learn by increasing their learning skills. Students are provided with specific strategies to make their learning easier and more fun. Parents of camp students receive feedback on their child’s strengths, interests, and learning challenges, as well as new strategies to help the learning process. The camps also offer training in differentiated instruction to local educators increasing the capacity of local teachers to effectively help diverse learners.

Target Students
The Camps target struggling diverse learners entering second through eighth grades in the 2012-2013 school year. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per session and priority enrollment is offered to students who meet the target criteria.
Dates/Times
Session 1: Summer Spy Academy for students entering grades 2 to 5. The two-week day camp will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 to June 22, 2012. The focus of this camp session is on building learning skills with an emphasis on observation, focus, and listening.
Session 2: Game of Life for students entering grades 6 to 8. The two-week day camp will be held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning in June 25 to July 6, 2012. This session focuses on project-based life lessons designed to build learning, team, and life skills.
Cost
Cost per two-week session is $400 per student. Limited financial assistance is available to qualified applicants and is based on a sliding scale. Unfortunately, we are unable to waive the entire tuition, therefore, a minimum tuition fee of $100 per student is required.
