Hawaii Learning Resource is pleased to announce our next Parent and Educator Workshop, Social Emotional Learning for Students. The free workshop will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kanu o ka ‘Āina New Century Public Charter School located at 64-1043 Hi‘iaka Street, in Waimea.

This workshop is designed for both parents and educators of Elementary School students and will give background, resources, and activities to help students develop social emotional resiliency. Information will be shared on the relationship between social and emotional competence and academic achievement.  As children grow, relationships with school peers become increasingly important. Teachers and parents are important facilitators and coaches. Participants will learn games and share stories in this hands-on, practical workshop.

The workshop will be presented by Ms. Sungalina Lee, an Educational Consultant and a School Counselor at Assets School. She has her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and has extensive knowledge and experience with respect to challenging behaviors.
